Just behind No.88 is the Tenterden & District Museum. Opened in 1976, the Tenterden Museum houses collections ranging from agriculture and industry to textiles and archives, with very strong potential as a learning resource for local history. It also features the "Tenterden Tapestry", a nine-panel embroidery-collage made by local children depicting the history of Tenterden from when it was just a 'den' or clearing in the wood to today's vibrant market town.
The Rare Breeds Centre located just outside Tenterden offers a great deal of things to see and do with a unique mix of fun, excitement and countryside adventure, set in 120 acres of unspoilt countryside.

November to March, open Tuesday to Sunday (closed Mondays) from 10.30am 4.30pm (Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. )

Two minutes walk from No.88 can be found the Kent and Sussex Steam Railway which opened its doors in 1903. It runs some of the most picturesque journeys following close to the boarder of Sussex and the banks of the River Rother before arriving at Bodium Castle which is moated and has some of the most enormous carp I have ever seen inhabiting it. It was built as a fortified manor and home after 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngridge, and now owned by the National Trust. For details of opening times etc visit their site at www.nationalstrust.org/bodiumcastle
A National Trust owned property, created in the 1930s by novelist Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicolson. The castle has small romantic outdoor rooms, woodlands and lake walks, Oast House exhibition and shop.
